2020 South Dakota State and Utah Tech football game postponed to 2024

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits and Utah Tech Trailblazers have agreed to postpone their postponed 2020 football game to the 2024 season, has learned.

South Dakota State was previously scheduled to host Utah Tech on Saturday, November 14, 2020, but the game was canceled due to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Jackrabbits will now host the Trailblazers at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings, SD on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, according to a copy of the contract amendment obtained from South Dakota State University via a state public records request.

The original contract called for the State of South Dakota to pay Utah Tech a $200,000 guarantee for the game. Under the terms of the amendment, the Jackrabbits will now pay the Trailblazers a $215,000 guarantee.

South Dakota State now has two non-conference games scheduled for the 2024 season. The Jackrabbits are scheduled to open the season on the road against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on August 31, as we announced on Tuesday.

Although not finalized, Utah Tech’s 2024 football schedule now contains seven non-conference opponents. The Trailblazers joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2022, so some of their previously scheduled non-conference contests will not be played.
