EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Big Ten Conference announced four game times Thursday afternoon for Michigan State’s 2022 football season.
Michigan State’s 2022 season opener on Friday, Sept. 2 against Western Michigan at Spartan Stadium kicks off at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN. It’s the eighth time in the past 12 years that Michigan State will open the season with a Friday night game at East Lansing, and the first under the third-year head coach. Mel Tucker. It’s also the 10th time since 2011 that MSU will open on a Friday night. The Spartans are 14-2 against the Broncos, including a Friday night home win in 2013. MSU also beat WMU in Kalamazoo on Friday night to start the 2015 season.
In Week 2, the Spartans host Akron at 4 p.m. on September 10; the game will air on the Big Ten Network. This is only the third meeting between the two schools and the first since 1914; MSU leads the all-time series, 2-0.
Michigan State’s game at Washington on Sept. 17 kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT at Husky Stadium. The Big Ten-Pac-12 showdown will be nationally televised on ABC. MSU will only be making its second trip to Seattle in program history and the first since 1970. The Huskies will make the return trip to Spartan Stadium on September 16, 2023.
The Homecoming game against Wisconsin scheduled for October 15 at Spartan Stadium will start at 3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.
