Friday night’s rivalry game between Mt. Vernon and North Posey will be for MP Bryan Hicks.
For the Vikings and the Wildcats, football is more than just a sport. It is an opportunity to unite and fight for a single goal.
North Posey Head Coach Waylon Schenk told 44News: “MP Hicks is one of the assistants who works locally here for us and manages a lot of safety events here at our school. He has been a great, great guy and a great asset to our community. It’s a great community to live in and, as I said, we will put aside the rivalries to come together to support him and his family in this time of need.
All participants in Friday night’s game are asked to wear blue. Mt. Vernon head coach Lukas Messmer told 44News that even the players will wear blue to support Hicks and his family.
Bracelets will also be sold during the match. This product will be given to Hicks’ family to help cover medical costs and he continues to recover.
Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at Mont Vernon.
