On Thursday, Gumla Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav visited Gauratoli and congratulated Ashtam’s parents on their daughter’s achievement.
“Ashtam’s effort to get into the senior national team is a great achievement for someone coming from a remote village. A pitch will soon be built here in his name to provide budding sporting talents with the opportunity to harness their potential,” Gaurav said.
He also announced that the village will soon have street lights, pucca roads, check dams and lift irrigation projects.
Speaking to TOI over the phone from Hazaribag Girls’ Residential Football Training Centre, Ashtam said: “My focus at the moment is to prepare for the World Cup. However, I am very happy with the announcement.
