Sunny final for Blackpool and District Youth Football League

Highbury staged the traditional Hogan Cup and Plate finals in a busy schedule on Saturday.

For the under sevens, eights and nines, the season was mostly about development games, the young players enjoyed the competitive action of the knockout games and the showpiece occasion at Fleetwood.

Winners of the Hogan Plate Lytham Junior Vipers U7

Lytham Juniors were the only club to win two trophies in the final, with the other six being split between different teams.

The Under-9 winners will now compete in the new B&DYFL Under-10 competition next season.

Under 7 Cup: Foxhall Sporting, Plate: Lytham Junior Vipers

Poulton JFC’s Trojans and Spartans in the U8 Plate Final

Under-8 Cup: Lytham Junior Maroons, Plaque: Poulton FC Trojans

Under-9 Cup: YMCA Panthers, Plate: CN Sports Whites

Under-18 Cup: Poulton Town, Plaque: West Coast Sports.

But the season is not over for Fleetwood Town, which will host the annual Girls’ Festival at its Poolfoot Farm training complex in Thornton next month.

Highbury Under 18 final action

More than 700 young players are expected to take part in competitions for all age groups, from under sevens to under 15s.

The Festival starts with the youngest players one week on Saturday (June 11) and continues with the oldest two weeks later (June 25).

The opening day will feature five-a-side action for the U7s and U8s, with the U9s and U10s playing sevens.

Nine-a-side matches will follow the next day (June 12) for the U11s and U12s.

It’s the turn of the U13s on Saturday 18, also at 9, followed by the first match at 11 on Sunday 19, with the U14s.

Life-size teams also on the last day (Saturday 25) for the U15s.

Places were still available for teams from groups U7, 8, 9 and 10 yesterday and these can be reserved via (select ‘Registration’).
